The Fola Francis Ball (2024)
The Fola Francis Ball is a ball that was held during Pride Month in honor of the late Fola Francis and her contribution to the ballroom culture and scene in Lagos. In a country where a gathering of queer folks results in prison time, these safe havens offer more than just physical safety; they provide solace, a sense of belonging, and genuine acceptance. Organized by Uyiaedu Ikpe-Etim and Ayo Lawson, this year’s theme was ‘Neo-Goth’ and the energy was intoxicating, the atmosphere liberating, and the attendees and contestants came dressed to impress.
